Academic Background
Meet Andrew Kaimaima a final-year undergraduate student at Malawi University of Science and Technology pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Systems and Security. His academic focus includes cybersecurity, network security, system design, secure software development and digital risk management.
Throughout his academic journey Andrew has developed strong analytical and problem-solving skills. In addition, he has gained hands-on technical experience in designing, managing and securing computer systems. His coursework and practical training have strengthened his ability to assess risks and implement secure technology solutions.
Professional experience
Andrew is currently undertaking his internship at Kwathu Kollectives under the M’mawa Apprenticeship Program. This full-time voluntary training initiative combines in-class learning with hands-on experience in administration, communication, digital skills, interpersonal development and professional work ethics.
As part of the program, Andrew contributes to projects in game development, Data & AI, IoT and robotics and Digital Skills for Africa. Notably, He leads the Data & AI Project where he manages a team and oversees the development of a machine learning model designed to detect diseases. Through this leadership role he continues to strengthen his technical expertise, project management capabilities and teamwork skills. His work focuses on developing practical, innovative and community centered solutions that address real-world challenges.

Andrew takes a practical, hands-on approach to every project. He begins by carefully understanding the problem and then applies data-driven, secure technology solutions to address it effectively. He values teamwork, clear communication, ethical practices and continuous improvement and he integrates these principles into his work to deliver solutions that are secure, scalable and reliable.
Andrew believes that technology should create real benefits for communities. He listens closely to people’s needs, develops innovative and practical solutions and shares knowledge to support growth and learning. His focus is on initiatives that deliver meaningful long-term impact.
